Reno Area Dirt Riders
History and Mission
Reno Area Dirt Riders is a Nevada nonprofit corporation with 501(c)7 tax exempt status dedicated to the sport of dirt biking in Northern Nevada. Our mission is to implement a proactive approach to advocacy for dirt bike-specific interests in Nevada, own our part of the public lands we enjoy through good stewardship, promote responsible recreation and most importantly, bring local riders together so that no one has to ride alone.
What started as a Facebook group* in November 2015 by a few guys and gals looking to find more riding buddies to gather around a campfire. We had no idea that in 3500 members. We strive to remember that riding and fun are the core to our purpose.
We saw the opportunity to have a bigger footprint, a louder voice and start a new legacy and decided to incorporate Reno Area Dirt Riders in May 2019. Since then, we have developed important relationships with our local land managers, businesses and community organizations, received grants from the Nevada OHV Commission and the National Wilderness Stewardship Alliance and executed our first trail maintenance project, cleaned up major dumping sites on public lands trail heads, and put on some fun organized rides.
The RAD family is made up of all kinds of riders - beginners to experts, kids to kids-at-heart with white hair, men and women, two strokes and four strokes, racers and trail riders - all with a common objective: to have fun, support each other and keep trails rad. We strive to be ambassadors of our sport and lead by example through practice of good trail etiquette and volunteerism, encouraging OHV registration so that more dollars can go to Nevada trail systems, and collaboration with land stakeholders and the community alike to bridge the gap and create more allies to help preserve our access.
Be part of the rad movement and join us. Whether you are looking to meet new folks to ride with, get involved with trail work and land use matters or just contribute to the causes, your support will be noticed and appreciated. Our members are the foundation of what makes RAD rad!
